There are thousands of different types of mites, so it pays to know what sort you are dealing with. Mites originate from the arachnid family. Mites have five life stages: egg, larvea, protonymph, deutonymph and adult.
The larvae have three pair of legs; the nymphs and adults have four pairs.
Adults are about 0.7 to 1 mm in length and are just barely visible to the naked eye. Unless they are moving, they are extremely difficult to see.
The colour is translucent white until they take a blood meal after which the mites are reddish mahogany to brown.
Don’t let them take hold so your home gets infested, always deal with mites as soon as you detect any signs of their activity.
The longer you wait, the harder it is to remove them all easily.
There are several different effective treatments, depending on the specific type of mites in question. When you discover traces of mites, you should call an expert in to assess the situation and they can then treat the affected area and properly eradicate the mites for you.
