Rats cause a lot of damage to property as well as spreading diseases. The most common rodent-borne disease to man today is Weils disease or Leptospirosis.
In random tests up to 50% of the population have been identified as carriers of these potentially fatal diseases.
Damage to electric cables, roof timbers and house contents are not uncommon.
